These sounds constantly reverberate in my mind every morning. It’s a routine, really. Biggest to smallest. Never smallest to biggest. It’s easier that way. Pour the water into the glass and go to the counter.

Click goes the child safety lock.

This medicine box has a child proof lock on one side. You pinch it in, hold it in place and open up the box that corresponds to the day it is.

Pop goes the lid.

It’s stressful really. If I forget, my day is ruined. Hopefully one of these pills I won’t take forever…The other two are supplements.

Swish goes the water; into my mouth.

I get a lot of water so I can first swallow a few times so my throat doesn’t close up on the first pill. The biggest pill… The multivitamin. It’s about the length of my thumbnail, the width of the width of my pinky nail and as tall as the width of the latter nail. In short terms, it’s huge. It’s the hardest thing to swallow. But, I need it, or I’ll get sick and my nails will bend from anemia.

Gulp goes pill number one; down my esophagus; into my stomach.

The other two are so tiny in comparison. One is an antihistamine and the other helps me. Makes me less scared of the world and school. I take the anti-anxiety first, and then the anti histamine.

Gulp…

Gulp….

Swish goes the water down the drain.

Pop goes the lid back into place.
